Lemon Rice / Nimboo Chaawal






Lemon  Rice / Nimboo Chaawal

 

Raw rice : 1 cup

Green chilly : 2 ( chopped )

Lemon juice : 3 or 4 tsp

Salt to taste

Turmeric powder : 2 pinches

Bengal gram : 1 tsp

Peanuts : 1 tbsp

Til Oil : 1 tbsp

Mustard : ½ tsp

Hing Powder :  2 pinches

Curry leaves : few

Water : 2.5 cups
 
 

          Cook rice with water for 3 whistles.

Spread it on a wide plate to let it come to room temperature.

Meanwhile,  heat oil and temper with mustard seeds and peanuts.  When mustard starts popping add Bengal gram , chilly .  When the Bengal gram turns into golden brown add hing , curry leaves , turmeric powder , salt .  Stir and remove from flame.

Mix the tempering with rice and add lemon juice .  Mix everything nicely . 

Tangy and yummy lemon rice is ready to serve.
 
 

Serve with Aviyal /  Banana Chips .
