Bisi Bele Dalia / Hot lentil with wheat grits






Bisi Bele Daliya.

 

Daliya / Godhumai rawa -- 1 cup 

Red gram / Tur dal  -- 1/2 cup

Chopped veg ( Carrot , beans, bell pepper, potato , Shallots ) -- 1 cup

 Tomato -- 1 ( finely chopped or make it into puree )

 * Bisibele masala powder

 Salt as per taste

 Curry leaves --  few

 Tamarind paste -- 2 tsp

 Jaggery powder - - 1/2 tsp

 Water -- 3 + 1/2 cups

 

* Bisibele masala powder: ( Fry everything in ghee and grind nicely )

 Cloves - 2

 Cinnamon --- 1/2 an inch

 Black Cardamom -- 1

 Poppy seeds - 1/2 tsp

 Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

 Fenugreek seeds -- 2 pinches

 Bengal gram -- 1 tsp

 Black gram - 1 tsp

 Red chilly -- 3

 Coriander seeds -- 2 tsp

 Grated coconut -- 1 tbsp.

Soak Tur dal for half an hour and grind it coarsely … don’t grind it smoothly.

Dry fry Dalia / Godhumai rawa lightly.

      Mix all the ingredients in a Pressure cooker directly  and cook for 2 whistles in medium flame.

     Temper with Mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, curry leaves in ghee.

 Garnish with coriander leaves.
 
 

Serve hot with Papad, Potato Curry , Onion Raitha.

Variation : 

Instead of adding tur dal grits paste , add  cooked and mashed , one cup of Tur dal
