Sambar Podi / Powder ( For Regular
Use )
Sambar
Powder is a must in all the South Indian Family. We prepare Sambar to have it with rice or
tiffin. We can grind and use sambar powder for
months. We can also grind in bulk and
store in fridge for longer usage.
The flavor
of the Sambar is mainly depends upon the Sambar Powder. I just love the Sambar Prepared by my
Mom. I am sharing the recipe of her
Sambar Powder.
Red Chilly (
lengthy chilly ) : 250
Grams
Coriander
Seeds : 600 Grams
Red Gram /
Tur dal : 100 Grams
Bengal Gram
: 100 grams
Black Pepper
: 100 grams
Cumin Seeds
: 25 grams
Turmeric
Stick : 100 Grams
Fenugreek :
50 grams
Mustard Seeds
: 25 grams
Spread and Keep
all the ingredients under the sun for 2 days .
Let it get enough heat .
Grind them
in the Machine/ Flour Mill / Chakki.
· You can also use the Round south
Indian red chilly
· If you don’t have the facility to
grind in flour mill, you can prepare in small batch by reducing the ingredients
and grind it in the mixer grinder very nicely , as much as possible.
· Always buy fresh and good quality of
ingredients to get flavorful Powder.
· We can also use the same powder for
making Rasam .
· Colour of the Sambar powder depends
upon the variety of red chilly you are using.
