Masala Rawa / Suji Upma




Masala Rawa / Suji Upma:

 

 Double roasted rawa : 1 cup

 Water : 2 + ½ cups.

Salt to taste.

Turmeric powder --  a pinch. ( Optional )

Tomato --  finely chopped --  2 tbsp  ( Optional )

 For grinding:

 Shallots / Small onions  -- 2  or 3.

 Green chillies --  2 or 3,

 Ginger --  ¼  inch ,

 Curry leaves --  5,

 Coriander leaves --  Hand full. ..

Grind all the above  coarsely.

To  Temper: 

Coconut  oil  --  4 tbsp

Mustard --  ½ tsp

Bengal gram --  1 tsp

Hing --  a pinch.

Method: 

Temper the given ingredients ….  Add ground paste .

Sauté for a while till raw smell goes. 

Add finely chopped tomatoes ( optional ) …. Stir fry nicely.

Add Water, salt to taste , turmeric powder ( Optional ) …. When it comes to boiling stage add rawa stirring continuously . 

.  Cook for 5 mts .  Switch off and Close with the lid tightly.  Give standing time of 10 to 15 mts.

Serve hot with Sambar / Chutney.
