Raw Banana / Vaazhaikai Thoran




                               Vaazhaikkai / Raw Banana Thoran

Raw Banana : 2 cups ( chopped into cubes )

Red chilly : 3

Salt to taste

Tamarind Raw : 1 tamarind seed size

Turmeric powder : ¼ tsp

Coconut grated : 2 tbsp

Curry leaves : few

Coconut Oil : 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds : ½  tsp

Bengal gram dal : 1 tsp

Hing powder : 2 pinches

          Boil Raw banana cubes in enough water with turmeric powder , some salt, tamarind …

Drain the water .  ( You can use this water in sambar )

In a Pan , heat oil and temper with mustard.   When it starts popping add Bengal gram dal, broken red chilly.  When the dal turns into golden colour add curry leaves, hing powder.  Give a stir and add boiled veg , salt . 

Stir fry for few mts to get veg evenly coated with all the ingredients. 

Garnish with grated coconut and remove from heat.

 

Variations:

1. You can use tamarind paste in place of raw tamarind

2. Can use Green chilly in place of Red chilly.

3.  Omit adding tamarind and add lemon juice finally, while garnishing.
