Mango Thokku / Mangai Thokku




                      Mango Thokku

 

Grated  Mango : 2 + ½ cup  (  3 mangoes )

Green chilly  :1 ( finely chopped )

Red chilly powder  : 5 tsp ( Kashmiri chilly )

Hing  : 2 pinches

Turmeric powder  : ¼ tsp

Fenugreek powder  : 3 pinches

Jaggery  powde r :  1 tsp

Sesame Oil  :  5 tbsp

Salt to taste  :  ( depend upon sourness of mango )

             In oil  stir fry green chilly and add all the ingredients .  In low flame , cook mangoes till it gets mushy and nicely cooked and the oil floats on top.  It will not stick to the sides and will be glossy like halwa. 

Remove and store in air tight container.
 
 

[Note :  Microwave red chillies for 2 mts in high flame  and powder it.    Home made chillies gives nice flavor 
 
Kashmiri chilly gives rich red colour. But will be less in spice.  You can also use regular red chilly for making chilly powder. ]
