Banana Stem Thogayal

 

 After removing the outer ring of the banana stem, slice them into thin circles .

 Remove the fiber (naar) part while doing so.

 Now, chop the slices into small bits and keep them immersed in buttermilk water till you use it.

 

 Banana Stem -- 1 cup chopped.

 Red chilly -- 2

 Curry leaves a hand full

 Tamarind –  1 tamarind seed size.

 Black gram – 2 tbsp

 Pepper -- 1 tsp

 Salt to taste

 

 In oil  fry Pepper… when it starts to burst  add red chilly , Black gram  and tamarind and fry till dal becomes golden brown.   keep it aside.

Then fry the banana stem ( without water ) and curry leaves.,  just for few minutes.  

Grind everything together with salt first , except banana stem.   Finally add banana stems and grind them coarsely.
